1. Earn a Relevant Degree

Obtain a graduate degree (master's or higher) in behavior analysis, education, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.

2. Complete ABA Coursework

Enroll in a BACB-approved Verified Course Sequence (VCS) in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as part of your degree program or as additional coursework.

3. Gain Supervised Fieldwork

Fulfill the required supervised fieldwork hours under a qualified BCBA supervisor. The BACB specifies two types of fieldwork:

Concentrated supervised fieldwork: 1,500 hours.
Standard supervised fieldwork: 2,000 hours.

4. Meet BACB Requirements

Ensure you meet all eligibility requirements, including degree, coursework, and supervised experience, as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

5. Apply for the BCBA Exam

Submit your application to the BACB, including documentation of your degree, coursework, and fieldwork hours.

6. Pass the BCBA Exam

Once your application is approved, schedule and pass the BCBA certification exam. The exam tests your knowledge of ABA principles, ethics, and practices.

7. Maintain Certification:

Complete ongoing continuing education to keep your certification active.
